Vision
Our Cash 4 Trash vision is to transform Africa into a wealthy, green, self-sustainable continent by economically empowering marginalised communities with innovative eco technology. Our first approach and innovation is to provide RVMs in all Redefine sites (shopping centres, office parks and industrial sites) nationwide available for all communities to utilise for self-sustainable growth. Our second undertaking is Cash 4 Trash Upcycling whereby our partners manufacture plastic and glass into top quality eco-products.
Mission
Cash 4 Trash is dedicated to promoting and enabling the green economy by facilitating recycling and reuse in Africa. Our fundamental belief is to economically empower communities in the importance and value of eco sustainable practises to mitigate against climate change on which a sustainable future can be created for all people and life on our planet. Our mission is to reconfigure current waste management models in Africa and establish strategic partnerships in the value chain to positively contribute to the global environmental goals.
Story so far…
Cash 4 Trash was officially born in 2019 when Mary-Ann Mandishona pitched the eco conscious idea at the first Redefine Innovation Challenge in Maponya Mall, Soweto, South Africa. During her tenure as Managing Director for CREET (Centre for Renewable Energy and Environmental Technology) Mary-Ann was inspired by her travels to China, India and Europe. She noticed how RVM (Reverse Vending Machine) technology was being utilised overseas to convert beverage container bottles into money as a clever way to reward consumers to recycle their trash.
